Each year, Cal State Fullerton hosts the Day of Giving: a 24-hour, universitywide fundraising campaign to support its colleges and students. The 2023 event was held on March 8, and the College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics showed its Titan pride by raising an impressive $14,083. More than 80 donors contributed to NSM’s efforts.
These funds will provide valuable support for students throughout the college. Donations to the general fund will be used to bolster NSM student support, helping students thrive and learn. Funds allocated for CCAM will aid community outreach efforts and enhance interdisciplinary research and collaboration opportunities.
Finally, gifts to support the Maria Linder Nielson Endowed Graduate Fellowship, which honors the late renowned professor of biochemistry, will help make it possible for exceptional or underserved students to pursue advanced education within the college.
An Uplifting Titan Community
With more than 2,200 donors worldwide, the 2023 event raised a grand total of $527,969 for the University as a whole, surpassing this year’s goal. Notable match donors Tien Nguyen (BS ’79); Sam Behseta, professor of mathematics; Kevin Bui (BBA ’02); Sean Walker, professor of mathematics and associate dean of NSM; and Jordan Ruggieri (BS ’13) generously matched funds when certain donation milestones were reached.
The fundraising success for NSM, in particular, represents all that the Titan community stands for and will have a pivotal impact on the education and experiences the college is proud to offer its students.
“The annual Day of Giving is a chance for all Titans to come together to support our community, and NSM set the bar really high this year,” says Michael Karg, executive director of development. “Philanthropy supports student opportunity and success. We look forward to continuing to work with our NSM Titans to raise support for our students and programs through this digital platform.”
